Refocus and simplify

Time for a little live experiment…

I’ve done some reflection (too much) about what would be the best way for me to get more freedom and love my Mondays even more.

(by the way, I’m not writing those Love Mondays emails anymore for now because I need to focus as much as possible to build something tangible)

I went through a lot of business ideas, from selling courses using Facebook Ads (no sales but I learned a lot) to building micro-SaaS (I’m obsessed with the concept).

But I decided to go simple: start with what I already have in terms of assets (ebooks, blog posts…) and where I could show more personal experience in the world of business.

This means writing about my experience with freelancing and trying to sell products around this topic.

I had this idea many times and always avoided it. Maybe because I don’t have the strongest intellectual interest in it.

And I think that a noob mistake: follow your passion and all. Not such bad advice but it might require years of work with a lower chance of success if you’re starting from scratch.

I don’t have this time. I need to get money to support my family.

But beyond money, it aligns with my vision of everyone being able to thrive with the life they design instead of surviving thanks to regular paychecks they don’t have much control over.

Freelancing is quite brilliant actually.

So why don’t I just do freelancing and stop trying to make money through my writing and products?

And indeed, I’m still open to proposing services.

In fact, one of the motivations for this experiment is to create a case study where I get all the data I need (which might be more tricky to get some clients) to showcase my skills.

But I can’t do both for now. I don’t have enough time and energy.

So I’ll focus on selling digital products. And if I do well, I may not need to offer services unless I really like a client.

So what’smy plan?

Nothing complicated, just 2 steps:

1. Create a good product: a Notion template for freelancers. It’s already validated so low risk of failure and I have a few ideas to make mine different/better than other products.

2. Become a marketing machine a pretty good content creator: writing and videos.

For 1., I’ve already started to create the template and use extensively Claude.ai to make it better. I need some time but I may finish it this week if I stay focused (my ADHD brain please!)

For 2., it’s not as clear. Content creation is a tough game. But I’ve got great resources on writing, SEO/blogging, YouTube, social media, and I’ll study (and share with you) what I learn and experiment.

I think this will become a good part of what I write about here.

The overall idea is to create a world where people will want to come and live for a bit. A virtual place where they will see how their lives can change.
